U.S. Canoe and Kayak Team alumnus Susan Norman set the course for the 2000 Kern River Festival Slalom. Noted for her smooth paddling style, Sue had one of the fastest times at the event, and won the Women's Expert Kayak class.

The best whitewater slalom boaters in the country will be coming to the Kern August 18-20 for the 2000 Texaco Whitewater Slalom National Championships. The Nationals will be the final race in which our Olympic Team competes prior to the Olympics in Sydney, Australia.
